Honoring Friends by Helping Others
This is the story of our friends, Francisco, Ashley, and Bubba Jr.
Bubba Jr. is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL pit bull owned by the Dominguez family.
The Dominguez family includes the sister and niece of a person who was very special to many of us at Holt.
Our friend and colleague, Dr. Francisco Jasso, passed away about a year ago from cancer. Dr. Bratton, Pablo, Theo, Misty, and Shae all worked many, many late moonlighting shifts with Francisco at the Emergency Animal Clinic. Francisco was a licensed veterinarian in his home country of Mexico. Due to the high cost of the process to have his doctoral license recognized in the U.S., Francisco was never able to afford to become licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the U.S.
He was a humble, intelligent, extremely hard-working person who carried himself with such professionalism and good nature that it was a great pleasure to work alongside him.
He was able to take care of his family's pets, including Bubba Jr., but before he passed, he instructed the Dominguez's to come to Holt if they ever needed help once he was gone.
Bubba Jr. came to Holt very sick. He had not eaten for several days and was vomiting. The Holt care team determined that something might be stuck in Bubba Jr.'s intestines, and surgery was necessary. The Dominguez family simply could not afford the procedure. If surgery was not done, Bubba Jr. would die.
